This use case covers AI outbound: combining signals with automated personalization to create outbound sequences that convert.

⭐ The Star of This Use Case: The Action Step

The Action step hands enriched contacts to your sequencer. Clay's native tool works, but this also connects to Outreach, Salesloft, or whatever you use.

🔄 How It Works, Step by Step

Step one: A trigger occurs. A signal, enrichment run, or first-party system update causes prospects to enter the target segment.

Step two: Auto-enrichment runs. Clay fills missing contact data.

Step three: Sequencer handoff. Contacts move into a campaign.

Step four: AI personalization. Clay's AI builds messages using enriched data directly in Sequencer — the signal, company news, job context, etc.

💼 Walking Through an Example

We filter by contact score and B2B company status.

Then we track contacts who changed jobs in the last 90 days using signals.

Go to Tools, select Actions, Add to workbook, then in your workbook you can add the Sequencer enrichment. In Sequencer, you can build your email campaigns.

The result?

Outbound pipeline gets generated from highest-signal accounts without adding headcount or increasing rep research burden.

Outreach quality becomes consistent. Every rep works from the same enriched data and AI messaging framework.

Speed matters. Prospects are reached within hours of signals firing, not days.

⚠️ Caveat 1: Not Every Team Is Ready for Full Automation

Always test in small batches first. Verify that it works before automating at scale.

Clay supports a review step between AI personalization and sequencer handoff. Reps can approve, edit, or skip contacts before sending.

This gives automation speed without losing quality control. Reps review messages grounded in real data instead of writing from scratch.

Over time, remove review steps for proven segments. Job changer segments with proven frameworks might run fully automated. New segments targeting different personas stay in review longer. Automation level is configurable per segment.

🔌 Caveat 2: This Workflow Works with ANY Sequencer

This workflow works with any sequencer. You don't need to rip out existing tools — Clay connects to whatever your team uses.

Connect third-party tools like Exportly, Outreach, or Salesloft using enrichments. Contacts flow automatically from segments into your sequencer. The difference is the technical path: actions for native, enrichments for third-party.
