How to Set Up Your Reps for MCP

Let’s set your reps up on Clay MCP! You’ll be able to invite reps, cap credits, choose which AI tools they can connect, and disable Functions you don't want exposed.

🧭 Where to Find It

From the Clay home screen, open MCP in the left nav, under Labs. Every setting for getting your reps onto MCP lives on this one page.

💳 Set a Default Credit Limit

Start with credits. You can set a default credit limit that applies to every new user you add, on whatever AI tool they choose to use.

  1. Open the default credit limit setting.
  2. Set the amount. For example, start every new user at 250 credits.
  3. Choose who it applies to: new users only, or new and existing users.

A default limit means no single rep can burn through all your credits in one go while they're still getting used to the tools. Set it conservatively at first; you can always raise it.

🙈 Hide Managed Functions

You can hide managed Functions from your reps. As a reminder, managed Functions are Clay's out-of-the-box Functions, and they live in the Functions tab. If you don't want your reps calling them, hide them here and they won't be exposed through MCP.

🔌 Choose Which AI Tools Reps Can Use

This setting controls which applications your reps can connect Clay to, your allowed MCP clients. It's how you decide which AI platforms your members can access Clay through.

  • Toggle each platform on or off. ChatGPT and Claude are here, along with the other MCP clients you want to allow.
  • Whatever you leave on is what your reps can connect to; everything else stays off-limits.

👥 Invite Reps to the MCP

This is where you actually add your reps. The page shows a list of everyone in your workspace and the MCP access each person has, so you can scroll through and see where things stand.

To add reps:

  1. Search for a user, or click Invite users.
  2. Add up to 15 users at a time and send the invites.
  3. They inherit the default credit limit you set earlier, or you can set a custom limit for each person right here.

You can also see the number of credits used per user from this same view, so you can watch real usage before you lock limits in.

🚀 What's Next

You now know how to set your reps up on MCP from one page: a default credit cap, hidden Functions, the AI tools they're allowed to use, and the invites that turn them on. From here, your reps connect their own AI tool and start prospecting.

Next we’ll cover setting up Audiences.
