Enable Reps and Iterate With Your Team

Over the last few lessons you built the full infrastructure: Audiences set up, custom Functions live, credit budgets in place, and access locked down. This lesson turns it all on and makes sure your reps use the tools you set up for them.

Every rollout follows the same three steps:

  1. Configure
  2. Activate
  3. Adoption

You've already configured, that's what Lessons 2 through 4 covered. Now you'll activate your reps (enable and educate them) and drive adoption (reps using this every single day).

✅ Activate: Three Steps

None of these are hard, but the sequence matters and it's easy to get tripped up. Walk through them one at a time.

1. Add your reps as viewers

Get a list of every rep's email and add them all in one sitting, rather than one-off over time.

  1. Go to Settings, then Team.
  2. Invite reps by email and send the invites.
  3. Set the role to viewer.

As a reminder, viewer access lets a rep see the context and call your Functions, but not edit any of it.

Note: We've made updates to how to add reps to Clay MCP. Watch How to set up your reps for MCP for the latest.

2. Send reps the connection steps

Your reps need to connect their AI tool, whether it's Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot, to Clay and your workspace. It's simple:

  1. Open the tool's settings, then Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Browse connectors and search for Clay.
  3. Connect it, and that's it.

You don't have to teach this in depth. The full, click-by-click version lives in the MCP for Reps course.

3. Give reps a few starter prompts

Don't hand reps a blank box and hope they figure it out. Give them two or three prompts they can paste in and run on day one. For example:

  • Run [function name] for [XYZ account].
  • I'm prepping for a call with Stripe. Combine our Salesforce stage with what was said on the last two Gong calls. Where do we stand?

There are plenty more in the MCP for Reps course to pull from.

🤝 Hand Off Prospecting to the Reps Course

Don't try to teach your reps how to prospect from this course, that's not the job here. That's what the MCP for Reps course is for. Once reps are on the platform, point them there and they'll get all the enablement they need.

🔄 Iterate With Your Team

Once reps are using the tools, pay attention to what they ask for. The questions they type into their tools are your roadmap. When three reps keep asking for the same thing, that's the next Function to build. And when a rep finds a clever workflow that works, something that's getting replies, don't let it stay in their head: capture it as a Function and deploy it to the whole team.

With Functions, one rep's best workflow becomes the whole team's baseline. Remember that two or three high-value Functions beat 20 mediocre ones. Start with a few plays that work, then let real demand pull the next ones you turn into Functions, and grow the library from there.

🚀 What's Next

You've built the whole system: Audiences that answer real questions, Functions reps call by name, and the governance to run it safely. From here, your reps' creativity becomes the floor for the entire team.

The reps' side of all this lives in the MCP for Reps course. Point your team there, and keep iterating as the questions they ask show you what to build next.
