Before we begin

Whether it’s a shoutout, a question, a critique, or a casual name-drop, every public mention is an opportunity to engage, qualify, or learn. But most companies let these signals slip by unnoticed, buried in the feed or locked inside a team member’s notifications.

Missed opportunity.

This is where brand mention signals come in. By automatically tracking and enriching mentions of your brand across LinkedIn posts, you can turn passive noise into actionable insight:

  • Spot buyers in the wild without waiting for a form fill
  • Route warm leads to sales or CS in real time
  • Understand how people are framing and interpreting your product
  • Prioritize advocates and influencers in your network
  • Respond quickly to negative or confused mentions before they snowball

In this Claybook, we’ll show you how to automate brand mention alerts using Clay’s out-of-the-box brand mention signals.

It pulls in LinkedIn posts, enriches the data with author and sentiment info, writes to your contact table, and even sends alerts to Slack so your team never misses a moment that matters.

How it works:

  • Find and enrich posts: use "find social posts" to pull linkedin posts (e.g. mentioning “clay”) and enrich them with metadata (author, content, comment count) using "enrich social post".
  • Extract core post data: create fields to extract key details like post text, url, creation date, and update time.
  • Enrich author info: use "enrich person" to pull the author’s name, title, and organization from their linkedin profile.
  • Analyze and classify content: use "clay category & sentiment" to assess sentiment and categorize the post’s mention of clay; extract those values into fields.
  • Capture and route comments: use "get comments on a social post" and write those, along with the original post data, to the "all social post reactors" table.

Notify via slack: send a message to a slack channel when a post about clay is detected, including author info, sentiment, category, and post link.
