Finding Competitor Engagements for Prospecting
Identify prospects engaging with competitor employees' posts and turn those intent signals into an enriched list of decision-makers for targeted outreach.
This template helps you locate professional posts made by employees at competitor companies, capture people who reacted or commented, and surface intent signals indicating potential buying interest. It consolidates those engagers into a dedicated table, filters out same-company contacts, and flags decision-makers for enrichment and outreach.
- Add a new table → Social → Find professional posts and set the company filter to 'posted by company's employees'; add your competitor companies and configure max results, keywords, sort (top match or most recent) and timeframe (last 24 hours or last week).
- Enrich the poster to capture their organization, then run an AI prompt to validate that the post content is relevant to your buying-intent criteria (exclude hires or non-tactical content).
- For relevant posts, add the 'getReactions on a professional post' and 'getComments on a professional post' enrichments (note: if there are more than ten reactions or comments, only up to ten items are returned due to Clay cell-size limits).
- Use Actions → Sending Table Data to write each reaction/comment as a row into a 'Post Engagers' table (include poster social profile URL, reaction type, post URL, and poster organization), then enrich engagers and filter out people who work at the same company.
- Apply a decision-maker boolean/title check before exporting or enriching further (email, phone) and crafting personalized outreach one-liners that avoid obvious phrasing about the engagement.
When you finish, you’ll have a reusable template that produces a cleaned list of external engagers from competitor employee posts, flagged for decision-maker status and ready for enrichment and tailored outreach.
