Before you begin

Tired of going to the same coffee shops every day? Me too. 

Especially since I don’t love any of the coffee shops I already go to: bad mocha, no vegetarian options, long lines, overwhelming menus. 

So I used Clay to create a comprehensive cafe exploration guide—one that includes locations, ratings and reviews, phone numbers, and the food items that I love most. 

What does this have to do with sales and marketing? Don’t all sales and marketing professionals drink coffee? Just me?

Kidding. This fun, quirky claybook was part of my onboarding project at Clay. 

Here’s how it works: 

  • Cafe Discovery: First we import cafes using Google Maps as the data source. Ideally, we'd have 52 cafes—one for each week of the year.
  • Data Enrichment: Next, we enhance the dataset with details like address, number of reviews, ratings, and top dishes. You can also categorize cafes into themes like “work-friendly,” “date night,” or “upbeat vibes” based on your mood.

Send to Google Sheets: Last, we send cafe data to a separate Google Sheet. Bonus: You can use Clay’s native integration with Slack to post recommendations in a private channel instead!
